“As we head into 2022, I keep asking myself what’s next? What is my true purpose? Why don’t I feel that I’ve even begun to achieve what I am destined to do? And I realize that I am exactly where I am supposed to be. I am away in the warm sunshine, my kids are close by, happy and healthy. My mom is well, I love what I do and I have great friends. I’m in a good relationship. These are all the things that I had always hoped for. So maybe my next evolution may not be a revolution. Maybe it will only be a revelation. I’m good with that. I am pretty sure when we accept our status quo, we get to move up to the next proverbial rung of the ladder.”
After a long career where she constantly reinvented the wheel, it is quite interesting that she’s finally able to take the time to reflect, instead of going full speed ahead.
Carol is a jewelry and accessories designer, gem connoisseur, stylist, curator, television personality, writer and influencer. She is the embodiment of her brand which mirrors her life; that is, low key glamour and helping women find a balance between an active lifestyle and a passion for fabulous jewelry.
Carol’s rule of thumb — the 3 M’s. Every jewel should have “meaning, moment and memory”. The meaning behind the piece (the story); the moment you first put it on and the memories you create every time you wear it.
Her impressive career has literally been paved in diamonds. From her early beginnings as a spokeswoman for De Beers diamonds to directing global communications for Harry Winston and then serving as the world’s first Chief Luxury Officer for Robb Report magazine (and a multitude of titles targeted at the uber wealthy). Carol has influenced the world’s most prestigious brands beyond compare with her larger than life energy, passion, authenticity and charisma.
An entrepreneur at her core, Carol designed and handcrafted her own professional success. From age 14, she spent Sundays at the local flea market buying bags of sweatshirts, glitter, paint, crystals, studs and lace. She became obsessed with creating “flash dance” inspired hand-made glittering sweatshirts which she sold to trendy shops on Long Island’s gold coast.
Rather than pursuing a career in fashion and design (her father encouraged her to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology), she chose to study marketing and communications at Boston University. A few years after graduating, she traveled bi-weekly to LA, bejeweling movie stars for the most celebrated red-carpet events. From Michael Jackson and Prince, to Gwyneth, Halle, Kate and Reese, Carol has decked out Hollywood’s biggest stars in diamonds for the Oscars, Emmy’s, Tony’s and Golden Globes.
In September of 2020, Carol launched Carol Brodie, a contemporary collection of bold, gold jewelry accented with genuine gemstones. Art deco inspired demi-fine designs are influenced by the jewels that Carol has amassed throughout her lifetime. Her admiration for David Webb, Buccelati, Bvlgari, Verdura, and art deco design is evident in her aesthetic.
Of course, Carol’s most favorite gems (she’s held many, including the Hope Diamond and the Dresden Green) have been and will always remain her sons, Noah and Grant, 24 and 21 years old. When Carol talks about her family there is a sparkle in her eye that rivals any gemstone.
